"Aloha" Jacky & Shanone!!! The chicken tractor you built is still thriving. We've moved it four times at least since you've been here ... and it's now in the middle of a thriving "food forest". Come back and pick the cherry tomatoes! The avocado has doubled in size and we now have a pineapple patch on one of your "tractor" spots! "Mahalo" for joining us for the month ... and ... come back soon!

Sounds like you are doing great work at Huelo Point! I would love to come back one day and see the progress. Shanone and I completed our PDC's in October and are growing lots of veggies and herbs in our winter garden. I am designing for friends, family and referrals, one of which will be on a green garden tour in April. I recently planted new fruit trees at home and am most excited about the 'Pink Lady' apple tree, a low chill variety from Aus. Looking to get some chooks soon too! Say Hi to Jeff and Kai. Best wishes for a successful growing season.

Jeff and I had been coming to Maui for a couple of years before we realized Maui had "another side" - the North Shore! Wow! It's like a whole different country here! REAL people, REAL stores (not just lines of boring tee shirt shops) ...

We've been using our "down" time to spruce up our lovely little Star Honeymoon Lookout withsome (fun) fresh paint! On the hammock: Tomas, one of our young Canadian guests, who came here for a month as a WWOOFER (Willing Workers on Organic Farms). This year, Huelo Point has hosted more than a dozen young people from all over the world - and it's always been a great experiece! Hosting young, organically conscious people has been refreshing in the somewhat gloomy world of 2009, and gives us great cause for optimism for our future. Our world is in good hands with these young people!

As well as being hosts in our Bed & Breakfast, Huelo Pt Lookout is proud to be associated with the WWOOFER (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) program. We host young people from all over the world, who stay with us and learn the skills necessary to start their own Bed and Breakfast, and also to "go green" in doing it, specifically thru permaculture techniques (which I'm proud to say, were made well known by fellow Australian & permaculture pioneer, Bill Mollinson. This past year has seen the installation of a new (and of course organic) exotic fruits orchard. We now have five different kinds of bananas ... not to mention create well over that number of banana breads and muffins!
