Sadly, we said goodbye to Rebecca, our green thumbed WWOOFER - she's been with us for 3 months and we'll MISS her!! So will our herb & veggie garden!!! Have fun in Kauai Rebecca ... and after that, Australia! And, of course, come back and visit your special garden!

Permaculture Design Certification

Here is our wild permaculture crew proudly holding up our Permaculture Design Certificates. For the last two weeks we've all been busy "at school" planting, designing, and planning for a better world. I realized I'm already doing a lot of things within the permaculture design (originally developed by fellow Aussie, Bill Mollinson, by the way) - but now we can do so much more! Next week: a giant FOOD FOREST! I have the basics, but what fun to add coffee and watermelons, sugar and jackfruit. The sky's the limit - and Huelo's breezes and salt air of course! How encouraging to meet such a wonderful group of people who are totally passionate about sustainability! I'm off to dig lots of holes!!!!

Okay ... who can resist sunflowers? My flower farmer guests have 20 ACRES of them!!! My New Year's resolution: go buy some seeds!!!

What a wonderful Christmas we had, sharing the Lookout House with the Muller family (pictured from left to right, Amanda, Mandy, Hugh and Johan). They became delightful friends as well as guests। Not only are they organic flower farmers (specializing in sunflowers! my favorite flower!) from Texas, but Johan (far right) is a computer whiz it wasn't long before our long breakfasts were joined by a laptop and we had him working very hard indeed! Before we dropped them (reluctantly) at the airport we had lunch at Mama's Fish House - the perfect end to a perfect vacation for us all! Now ... what are you doing next Christmas??? and make it longer next time!!!
